If you're expecting, you've probably wondered: what is this actually going to cost us? It's one of the most common questions in every parenting group, and it's surprisingly hard to answer. Hospital bills are confusing, and prices have been hidden for years.
That's changing. Hospitals now have to publish their prices, but they do it in huge technical data files, often millions of lines long, built for computers rather than people. BirthCost pulls out the prices for having a baby, checks them carefully, and turns them into simple answers: what having a baby costs at each hospital, what your insurance pays, and what you'd likely owe. We started in Dallas–Fort Worth and are adding more cities.
Our promises to you
- Real sources. Every price starts from the data the hospital is required to publish. We check it before it goes on the site, and we show you when it was last updated.
- No medical advice. We share prices and public information to help you plan. Your care decisions belong with you and your doctor or midwife.
- Independent. Hospitals don't pay to be listed or to change their numbers, and advertisers never affect what we show.
